… Before Social Media

Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest… it is amazing to think how far social media has come in such a short period of time. It is easier than ever for a business to put themselves in front of thousands of potential customers with a click of a mouse or a few simple posts. It cannot be easy for a new bride and groom to make a decision on who to contact. In fact, I believe, it must be quite overwhelming. The days of selecting a service amongst a half dozen professionals is a thing of the past. There are now hundreds of companies advertising and promoting their services, claiming to be the very best of what the industry has to offer. How do you narrow down your search and put yourself in a position to choose a true industry professional? How do you read between the lines and find the companies that actually can back up their credentials? Dig a bit deeper and research their business before social media!

Thinking back on my past, I realized that more than half of my business occurred before the evolution of Facebook and the social media craze. Just like today, business was reliant on referrals from past clients. The only difference was that testimonials were hand written and sent through the US Postal Service. Now it is easier than ever to post feedback on a company’s services. I always love receiving a new review, but what about those old hand written ones? Old reviews speak the truth about a company over time. If you have your doubts about a company claiming to have been in business for 20 years, than have them prove it!

Of course I would be happy to share a few thank you notes from years past and I am always happy to share many more for those who are interested…I personally would like to thank all of my great customers/friends who took the time to share their experiences.
